Rossignol Experience 88 Ski Review

Posted March 29, 2012 @ 10:14am | by Eric Gerrmann

Rossignol Skis has been on the upswing over the past few seasons. The buzz around the brand is stronger than ever. Rossi continues to build new ski models that industry folk and consumers are raving about. With the development of rocker profile skis, Rossignol has been able to design equipment that not only shreds, but is extremely user friendly. It's a common misconception that a company, like Rossignol, will only allocate dollars to their wide-body, extreme-rockered expert level equipment. It's true that they have built skis like the Rossignol S3, Rossignol S7 and Rossignol Squad 7, but their reach expands well beyond the typical "free ride" category. The company has been able to create and build new models across the entire spectrum. As I spend most of my time on the east coast, there is a particular model line that stands out to me, which personifies Rossignol as a premier all-mountain brand. The Experience series takes all of Rossi's latest and greatest technology and combines it into one versatile shredder. The Rossignol Experience 88.

Rossignol Experience 88 SkisThe Experience 88 will thrill both intermediates and expert level skiers by its stability and Auto-Turn feel. The ski is built with 88mm underfoot, a full woodcore, sandwich sidewall construction, sheet of titanal and AutoTurn Rocker. All of these elements of design come together to create a multifaceted shredding machine. The waist width ensures the ski will have plenty of float without sacrificing edge-to-edge quickness. In my opinion, the 88mm is a perfect range for an 70/30 on-trail off-trail skier. The Auto Turn rocker is what makes the Experience 88 hit such a wide range of skiers. It turns so seamlessly and provides exceptional float in a few inches of freshies. Advancing intermediate skiers will feel like the ski is doing most of the work, so they can concentrate on improving technique and enjoy the ride. The overall construction is vital in the torsional rigidity of the Experience 88. The sandwich sidewall, full wood and sheet of titanal give the ski a solid feel underfoot with enough energy to power out of any size turn. Expert rippers will savor the ability to lay trenches on the groomers without the slightest of hesitation. Then jump directly off-trail and cruise through a wooded area displaying nothing but a grin of satisfaction.

Rossignol Experience 88 Ski Review aka The Bottom Line: This ski is the perfect blend of technologies the industry has developed to date. It truly has the ability to do it all. Whether you're looking for a ski that will improve the experience of your progression, or you're looking for a complete all-mountain vehicle to bring your skiing experience to a new level... Look no further, Rossignol has delivered.
