Radeberger Pilsner

Posted February 14, 2013 @ 10:48am | by Beau Schwab

Last night on my way home from the office I stopped at the liquor store to pick up a few beers as one does on a casual Wednesday night. I was about to go for a sixer of my ol’ favorite, Pabst and then I had a change of heart. I actually never even opened the glass door to the cooler. Instead I drifted onward down the row of glass doors each containing its own array of sudsy gifts…pondering.

Now let me tell ya’ll something just to set this here record straight. I love a Pabst as much as the next skier bro-dude-guy standing in sweat-saturated ski boots in a muddy parking lot after shredding a black diamond bump run in April. If I have a P.B.T.B. (Pabst Blue Tall Boy) well then it’s a darned good day, but there comes a time every so often when a man may have to impress a woman, or bring a gift to share to a dinner party, or simply prove to himself that he can in fact move beyond this hipster favorite and appreciate a little flavor.

My hands magnetically gravitated toward the gold foil wrapped around the neck of this German treat. It was Radeberger Pilsnerthat I eventually withdrew from the cooler. Call it curiosity, call it my German lineage, call it divine intervention, no don’t call it that. I swung it up on the counter and asked the clerk if he had tried it before. He replied, “no, but some old timer buys this stuff all the time.” I replied, “done.”

With a clean taste, crisp finish and a phenomenal classic pilsner bite I highly recommend Radeberger, not to mention it’s cheaper than Stella, a killer conversation starter and has the possibility of being Rad with Burgers. CHEERS.
