MasterCraft Boat Review: Above the rest

Posted March 26, 2012 @ 10:59am | by George Michaelsen

MasterCraft Boats X-2My first inboard boat was a 2001 Malibu Sunsetter, the boat was incredibly versatile, and was the boat to get at the time.  As each year went by, Malibu seemed to be coming out with sicker and sicker boats.  The lines, the towers, they looked incredible.  I decided in 2005 that by 2010 I was going to be able to afford a new Malibu Wakesetter.

Five years later, it's boat show season.  A friend, who had previously owned several Malibu's said we should talk to New England Fresh Water Marine, a MasterCraft dealer at the boat show.  Obviously that's a difficult thing to hear when you have had your heart set on a Malibu Wakesetter since 2005.  We took a look at all the various makes and models at the boat show.  Eventually we meandered towards MasterCraft Boats and sat in the X-2, the boat our friends owned.

As I'm sitting in the boat playing with all the seats and board racks one of the sales guys comes over.  I asked him 'Why should I buy a MasterCraft?' I expected to get an answer like I had gotten from everyother brand 'Because we're the best'....  The answer was very different.

MasterCraft dots every i and crosses every t, nothing is missed. They build boats for people that want their cake and to eat it too.  You don't realize things are missed in a boat until you've seen the light (MasterCraft).  A cockpit that you don't have to use the bolster seat to see over the dash as the boat gets onto plane, instead of board racks with bungees whipping you in the face, it has a clean easy to use clamp holding the boards in place.  There are so many little details from the most durable vinyl on any boat, all the way to massive amounts of storage and the best sound system on any wakeboard boat.

MasterCraft makes boats for skiers, surfers, wakeboarders, tubers, everyday boaters and/or all of the above.  The Ski Monster has an X-2 it is the largest 20 ft boat you've ever been on, you'd probably think it was 21-22ft long.  It does everything from throw up a 4ft high 20ft long surf wake and a rampy wakeboard wake to handling the roughest of chop on Lake Minnetonka or Winnipesaukee.  Let your MasterCraft dealer know what you like to do on the water and they'll tell you which MasterCraft is best for you.  MasterCraft is truly held to a higher standard, go check out your local dealer and find out first hand.
