Easy to ski isn't a bad thing, the Ripstick 88w will make any skier feel more confident.

EASY LIKE SUNDAY MORNING.

The Elan Ripstick 88w is one of our favorite skis in the 80-90mm category because it's so easy to ski, but can shred when asked to. With progressing skiers, the consistent feedback is that this ski makes them feel like a better skier. While more advanced skiers can appreciate its maneuverability and quick feel. There are other skis in this category like the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 or the Nordica Santa Ana 88 that are going to feel more stable and composed at high speeds in comparison, but those skis are going to take more work to initiate a turn and release the tails. The Ripstick uses carbon fiber whereas those skis use metal, that's why it's lighter and more energetic. While it's not as powerful as some of the other skis in this category, the carbon fiber in the Ripstick provides enough dampness that it can handle firm snow shockingly well for a ski this light. It grips better than it should and better than any ski you're going to find that's this light. One word that comes to mind with this ski is effortless. It feels effortless in and out of a turn and pivoting through more technical situations. Another word is compliant. The ski responds instantaneously to whatever you want it to do in a predictable manner. This is an awesomely fun ski for any skier, especially those looking to progress and have a ski they can grow with.

Who's this ski for? Skiers looking for an approachable ski that's capable of performance on groomed terrain and hard snow. Anyone looking for an approachable ski that makes turning easier, and therefore will expedite their progression.

Who isn't this ski for? Ladies looking for the most powerful, high-speed capable option. Skiers who prioritize soft snow and powder performance should look into something wider (like the Ripstick 94w).
