Blizzard Black Pearl 88 Skis 2020 // Women's

r: 12 meters @ 152 centimeters // weight: 1392 grams @ 152 centimeters // Rocker-Camber-Rocker

Among the most versatile women’s skis ever introduced, The Black Pearl 88 is a maneuverable, but stable platform. By combining an 88mm waist, and just the right degree of tip-rocker, Blizzard hooks you up with the assets required to stage an aggressive strike on the trail or big-mountain line of your choosing. Camber under foot gives the Blizzard Black Pearl 88 Skis edge hold on the iciest, wind-swept steeps the White Mountains have to offer. A ski capable of finding an edge on North Eastern hard pack is a ski capable of finding an edge anywhere. The Black Pearl 88 is freeride inspired, with a rounded tail shape that is ideal for playful carves. Big mountain skiers rely on the versatility of their equipment in order to ensure that the next turn isn’t their last. When you’re out there in the mountains your priorities are a little different than those of a pro, but you don’t have to be a professional skier in order to savor the breadth of the Black Pearl’s capability.

How does the Black Pearl 88 compare to the Volkl Kenja?

The Black Pearl 88 isn’t as stiff, the Kenja has a couple sheets of metal that is better suited for more advanced skiers or simply just skiers that like a really solid feeling ski.  The Black Pearl will float better and be more forgiving off-trail, the Kenja will grip better on harder snow and be less forgiving – also doesn’t float as well.  If you absolutely love the Kenja you’ll most likely think the Black Pearl 88 is too soft of a ski.  The Volkl Yumi would be a more comparable Volkl to the Blizzard Black Pearl, but if you’re looking for versatility Black Pearl 88 is the way to go.

Why is the Black Pearl 88 so popular?

It skis everything really pretty well. It’s not amazing at any one thing, it’s great at everything.  You’ll have 90% of days covered with the Black Pearl 88.

What changed from 2019 to 2020?

Just the graphic. The ski itself is the exact same.

TLDR: The best selling womens ski year after year, because it does a lot really well.  Not amazing at any one single thing, just solid all around.

Recommended Binding: The Blizzard Black Pearl 88's do NOT include a binding, the cool skis never do.
