The first terrain park with a cable system has opened up in Rexburg, Idaho and goes by the name of The Cable Factory. The Cable Factory's park is 500ft long and is on the 2.0 system so you go can keep going in a circle, never stopping. Cable parks are a big deal amongst the wakeboard and wakeskate world because it lets you get out on the water with out having to buy a wakeboard boat. Wakeboarders love it because it allows you to get more hits on a feature in less time. Same will be true for snowboarders, more hits in less time means serious progression and of course you don't need a hill.
Big difference between being on a cable system and being on a hill or mountain is on the mountain you don't have a rope in your hand. Holding on to a tow rope does make it easier to balance and make small corrections that can keep you from falling or taking a serious digger. I haven't used the cable system but if you've read my interview in the about section of the site you know I wakeboard all summer and am on the snow most of winter, I can do a lot more on a wakeboard just because I have that rope in my hand.
This is going to be a very cool addition to the sport and I hope that we see more wakeboarders crossing over into the snowsport world. Props to The Cable Factory in Idaho, this is very cool and hope the cable park you're opening for wakeboarders in the Summer is super successful.
