Here we go, diving into the fall season now in the month of September! Leaves are changing and the rain is finally falling. For us out here in the western part of the country, rain is a luxury these days. As the ski season stoke grows, we still have quite some time until the snow falls. I don’t know about the rest of you but the only way to survive this last stretch is with some serious distraction.
That’s where mountain biking chimes in. It brings you out into the mountains, for some epic exploring, and if tree skiing is your thing, then this is what you need. There’s nothing that compares to flying between aspen’s in waist deep powder quite like mountain biking does. With all the foliage coming about on both the east and west coast, what better way to get up close and personal with nature! The rain that used to so seldom come is now here on the daily. Our hard pack, single track of the west that has consisted of sand for so many months, has now been resurrected to what some of us skiers may call, “hero dirt” to suite all of your berming, cornering needs. Yes, you can get angulated in the off-season too!
So if you’re itching for those first turns on snow already, get distracted and dust off your bike. This is the best season around to get your pre-season shred on. And hey, why not make that first day quad burn a little easier on yourself by powering up some steep mountain climbs beforehand. I see it as a win win!
