Oakley Lenses: Freezer Proof

Posted May 13, 2013 @ 12:01pm | by Eric Gerrmann

About a year ago, I was planning out a blog that for whatever reason never materialized. In preparation for the post, I placed a pair of Oakley Crowbars in the freezer (the exact reason for doing this still escapes me, but that's besides the point). The goggles got stuck behind the automatic ice bucket never to be seen again, until now…

I found the goggles in their frozen resting place after twelve months of being stuck in the back of my freezer. The frame and strap were frozen solid to ice bucket and the lens was completely frosted over. My initial reaction was "What the… ", then I quickly realized the reason for their misplacement (My Bad). More importantly, the Oakley lens seemed to be in complete working order. After a few hours of "thaw" time, the goggles were back to looking brand new. I still can't believe it!

This was an awesome goggle experiment that happened by complete accident. These Oakley's withstood a full year in freezing temperatures with ice cubes randomly pilling on top of them. Then on one random day they were thrusted back into my ski bag and are working beautifully. My science experiment proves that Oakley makes lenses that can withstand some of the harshest conditions for a long, long time. If you think you're constantly skiing in extreme weather and need eyewear that can do the job, Oakley's lenses have proven to be freezer proof.
