Nirvana Nevermind 20th Anniversary

Posted September 25, 2011 @ 7:40pm | by The Ski Monster

Twenty Years ago Nirvana released their second studio album Nevermind. The record drastically changed music forever and influenced an infinite number of people including myself. Like many, it was my first favorite band. In fifth grade I found a casually discarded cassette in my garage. My dad probably bought and found it was less than tasteful for his flavor of music, the In Utero sound isn’t for everyone.

Ever since I discovered Nirvana and listened to the song Very Ape I have had the dream of putting it to the opening segment in a ski film, haven’t done it yet but it’s definitely on the bucket list.

Nirvana, Foo-Fighters, Kurt Cobain, Dave GrohlFrom the ashes of Nirvana came Foo-Fighters, I can remember just a few years after discovering Nirvana, watching the 1997 snowboard film Simple Pleasures, a gift my little sis and I gave my old man, the O.G. shredder in my family, for his birthday. The best segment in the film was set to a back drop of the Foo’s song Everlong and has remained one of my favorite tracks to this day.

Music is a huge part of our lives here at TSM and we integrate it into nearly everything we do, work and play. The TSM radio is a window into how much we love music, and not just any music, but the best and latest kick ass tracks. This week TheSkiMonster Radio is featuring some of our favorite remixes of some of the greatest grunge tracks in honor of the 20th Anniversary of Nevermind’s release.  Grunge on and dance hard.
