Maynards - Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota

After a long day of wakeboarding, waterskiing or sun bathing, there is nothing like enjoying a meal by driving your boat to a lakeside restaurant. Lake Minnetonka is located about 20 minutes west of Minneapolis, MN, and is one of my favorite places to boat. The lake is separated into a variety of different bays, and is littered with beautiful homes, marinas and lake front restaurants. There is always a bay with near perfect wakeboarding conditions, and enough water-front destinations to make owning a larger boat ideal. One of these destinations is Maynards Restaurant and Bar, located directly on Lake Minnetonka in the city of Excelsior.

Maynard's is an ideal dining location that serves up excellent food and drink. The restaurant sits on the shoreline of downtown Excelsior, Minnesota, with parking access by either car or boat. The boat parking is easily accessible from the main lake, and even on the busiest days the dock-hands will make sure you quickly find a parking slip. 

Once your boat is tied up, make sure to tip the dock employee then head to the outdoor bar. The outdoor sitting area is a nice place to unwind after a long day on the lake. It offers exceptional views of Excelsior Bay and an outdoor specific “Wharf” menu. The Menu consists of typical America style cuisine, with a variety of summer cocktails and more than enough beers on draft. If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, I recommend the Excelsior. It‘s absolutely delicious! The sandwich comes packed with ham, turkey, bacon, sliced tomato and swiss cheese, grilled to perfection on wheat bread. Add a side of waffle fries with seasoned sour cream, and you will be in Après heaven! Wash it all down with any of Maynards Wharf drink specials. Maynards offers a Happy Hour promotion from 3-6 pm that includes $3.00-$5.00 draft beers, as well as other tasty summer cocktails.
