There are a few companies that do “Throwback Thursday” via instagram right but Burton Snowboards sets the bar to the next level.
I could be biased. My true first name is Burton after my father who’s first board was a Craig Kelly Air who let my 4 year old fingers get on a VHS copy of Board with the World. Three years later I had my own first Burton Deck it was Orange with turquoise bindings. I’m pretty sure its still on the rack in the garage back in N.Y. along with my moms Free 3 proudly mounted above my desk. To say I grew up around this stuff is an under statement. Watching Craig Kelly shaped the way I move through snow today, on skis and a board.
Last week @burtonsnowboard posted one of the best throwbacks yet, a black and white shot of Craig Kelly sending a method with the moon in the background seen top left. It inspired this post and stoked the hell out of me.
Ironically, as I began to write these words I checked the @burtonsnowboards feed and came across the most recent post of the re-issue Burton Freelight Jacket pictured below. Another category in which Burton kills it in, clothing, and bringing back the classics. Not only do you have a chance to own a piece of history but its new and improved. This is not your original Jeff Brushie jacket from 24 years ago. Its packed full of Burton’s evolved outerwear technology such as DRYRIDE Durashell fabric and waterproof seams. It’s not an a.k. Jacket but damn its rad!
If you don't follow @burtonsnowboards yet on instagram do it. Its Thursday…enjoy the throwbacks.
