Blizzard Cochise Ski Review

Posted December 7, 2011 @ 5:46pm | by Eric Gerrmann

Blizzard skis have long been known for their Austrian craftsmanship and on-piste performance. When the Wide-Waisted-Rocker generation skis initially hit the market, Blizzard skis were trailing the rest of the ski world. Their competition was releasing new model lines built with crazy rocker and ridiculous sidecuts. Blizzard knew they had to rejuvenate their line, and deliver something that would get the industry buzzing... Enter the FreeMountain series and the Blizzard Cochise Skis.

Blizzard Cochise Skis 2012The Blizzard Cochise takes the term FreeMountain to another level. This ski does not back down from any challenge, and will dominate any terrain or snow condition. The Cochise will conquer wide open powder fields, as well as the tightest steepest terrain imagineable. Blizzard's Flip Core Technology is a natural rocker construction that allows the ski to have consistent flex and instinctive pressure distribution. During construction the ski is pressed upside-down allowing the wood core to keep its original characteristics. Most rockered skis have to be artificially shaped, but Blizzard's process builds the Cochise with natural rocker. This gives the skier all the benefits of rocker in soft snow, with phenomenal edge grip on hard pack conditions.

Blizzard Cochise Ski Review aka The Bottom Line: An absolutely solid vehicle for off trail shredding. Flipcore rocker and 108 mm waist, provide ridiculous float through the deepest powder days. This ski is one of my personal picks for this season, and I am stoked to ski it in some Colorado powder.
