Yesterday I went Skiing. Man it feels good to be able to say those simple words again. Yep finally made it up to Arapahoe Basin or A-Basin for some well-deserved turns. A-Basin has been open for a few weeks now but not everyone can plan their first day of skiing around opening days and such, so I had a personal opening day. It’s kind of like it’s my party and I can cry if I want to, there was no crying yesterday I can assure you.
A few fresh inches from the night before made for some killer personal opening day conditions. A front row Monday morning parking spot and blue bird skies set the tone for a couple top to bottom burners.
Upon completion of the ’13-’14 season’s runs, my first runs as a Colorado resident, it only made sense to celebrate with a mid mountain cocktail at the new Black Mountain Lodge Bar where my bar tender reportedly made 68 Bloody Mary’s the day before, fully equipped with a slice of bacon on a skewer. If that isn’t a sign of ski season back in full force than you’re looking in all the wrong places.
Intermediate trails Ramrod and High-Noon were skiing exceptionally well throughout the duration of the day. I can’t wait for more!
