For the 2012 season the Lange RS 130 Ski Boots have been voted one of the best ski boots on the market by a variety of testers and notable publications. Winning awards such as Ski Magazines Gold Medal, Skiing Magazines Testers Choice and Peak’s Epic Choice does not happen unless your product truly is one of the greatest available to consumers.
What makes this boot so good? To list a few, it has an up to date design that addresses the recent evolutions of the sport of skiing such as a more upright and neutral stance. The shell has been modified to better fit a larger spectrum of feet and improvements to the liner are also evident to the success of the RS 130.
Lange uses what they call their control fit technology which pulls from an array of resources and foot scanning to develop a boot that addresses common issues in snug, low volume, high performance boots. Today, boots are being built to maintain more lateral stability and have a less aggressive forward flex. Without stability there is less control. The shell of the Lange RS 130 has been designed with a more pronounced heel cup to keep the foot in the locked and ready position while heel retention is also aided by the liners Modular Instep Retention System.
The widest part of the boot sole and liner is known as the last. The Lange RS 130 is designed with a 97 mm last which is considerably narrow but remains surprisingly comfortable due to the asymmetrical toe box and a true 97 mm lasted liner. For those who have been blessed with a large set of flippers, not to worry, Lange designed the same exact boot with a 100 mm boot sole last. Speaking of boot sole, the Lange RS 130 shell is a mono-injection to provide a stiff boot sole that maximizes energy delivered from the boot to the ski. It also makes for easy after market customization.
