Narrow enough to pipe turns on groomers and wide enough to handle soft snow and tight terrain.

I LIKE MY SKIS LIKE I LIKE MY WHITE CLAWS: MANGO.

The Fischer Ranger 96 was introduced last year and remains unchanged for the 23/24 season along with the whole Ranger series. This is great news because the new Ranger series is one of the best things goin' right now, and the Ranger 96 might be the most versatile of the series. Compared to its wider siblings like Ranger 108 and Ranger 102, it's just a narrow, grippier version, but at 96mm you still maintain the ability to handle soft snow and variable terrain. The best part about the Ranger 96 is how well it grips on hard-pack days without then feeling damp when you get it in the bumps and trees. There are more powerful and stable skis in this category that are gonna feel better on hardpack, like the Rustler 9 or Sheeva 9. The Ranger is more energetic than those skis and would definitely be my choice if I was focusing on bumps and trees, or just wanted something that's easier to turn. The Ranger 96 is undemanding and super easy to balance on with a huge sweet spot that makes the ski more accessible for non-expert skiers, or expert skiers that make a mistake -- it happens. The Ranger 96 has become a favorite amongst skiers who want one ski that can handle the steeps, trees, bowls, and groomers.

Who's this ski for? Skiers who want a versatile ski that's good on groomers but shines off trail.

Who isn't this ski for? Groomer skiers who hate playful skis and fun.

The Test Crew

We test products year round in order to curate the best gear for you.

If you're a more adventurous skier but end up having to spend more of your time on groomers the Ranger 96 is your ski. It loves tree runs, bumps and tight terrain but it can more than hang on a groomer. It's incredibly maneuverable but offers enough grip.
