Scarpa's Maestrale RS is an extremely popular touring boot, for several reasons; fit, performance and weight. Weighing in at 1560g per boot in a size 27.5 you get amazing uphill performance even if you're trying to manuever over and around some rocks -- thank you Vibram. The 120 flex will feel a bit softer than your typical 120 flex 4 buckle overlap ski boot, but it's stiff for how little it weighs.
The range of motion the ski/walk mode provides is top notch the cuff has a fluid feel when skinning and it really feels locked in and precise when it comes time to descend. The responsiveness of the tongue makes steering stiffer skis much easier than other Alpine Touring boots. The generous toe box and 101mm last accomodate most feet pretty well. If you're looking for performance going up-hill and down, the answer is Scarpa Maestrale RS.
The Maestrale RS has a narrow heel pocket and low instep height. The forefoot pocket is a 101mm last to give the perfect fit for the average foot. Despite the Maestrale RS being very lightweight it is significantly stiffer than the comparalbe Dynafit TLT 6.
Intuition Pro Flex RS Liner - This liner if fully heat moldable. Molding around your entire foot and to all the indentations of the shell. The result is awesome performance and a fantastic fit that expert skiers demand.
The Scarpa Maestrale RS is a cabrio shell but with 4 buckles. One large buckle at the top of the upper cuff, a ratchet 45º instep strap and 2 buckles on the lower shell.
