A board built for powder with a freestyle shape.

CHOP IT UP.

I had a chance to experience the Hatchet's versatility by testing it in vastly different conditions. My first days were spent in normal east coast conditions at our regular test spot at Mt. Sunapee in NH, and then I got on it out in the Colorado backcountry with the Weston crew. The board didn't disappoint in either scenario and should be on the radar of anybody with a more playful, freeride style that wants a board that can rip powder. It combines a twin-style shape with a bunch of characteristics you would normally find in a pow board.

Knowing that the Hatchet has a reputation for being a powder board, I was super impressed with its ability on an east coast groomer day. A camber profile allows to keep the board locked in, and additional carbon stringers add some stability at speed. The twin shape gives the board a freestyle feel, so I had a blast popping through some side of the trail ruts and buttering over knolls. To nobody's surprise, the conditions in Colorado were much more desirable. The Hatchet's aggressive rocker profile in the tip and tail allow it to float really well, so it does a great job in soft snow. Unlike a lot of pow boards out there, the Hatchet opens the door to take a well versed all-mountain board into some deeper snow and not lose its ability to feel playful and more freestyle friendly.

Who's this board for? All-mountain riders who like a freestyle feel. This board is built for the rider with a park/freestyle background that has moved on to other parts of the mountain.

Who isn't this board for? New riders and groomer slayers. The Hatchet likes groomers but with an aggressive rocker profile you lose some effective edge in the tip and tail, so it's not gonna carve as hard as something with less rocker.
