Volkl Blaze 94 Skis 2027
The Blaze 94 might be the most versatile ski Volkl makes.
While the Mantra family gets most of the attention, the Blaze 94 has quietly built a loyal following among skiers who value quickness, maneuverability, and versatility above brute force. If the M7 Mantra is the truck in Volkl's lineup, the Blaze 94 is the sports car.
Everything about this ski feels light, quick, and responsive.
At 94 mm underfoot, the Blaze 94 sits right in the sweet spot for skiers who want one ski that can handle just about everything. Groomers, bumps, trees, technical terrain, spring conditions, powder days, sidecountry laps—it feels comfortable everywhere. It's the type of ski that encourages you to take the creative line rather than the obvious one.
What stands out most is how little effort it takes to ski. The low swing weight makes direction changes almost effortless, allowing the ski to pivot, slash, and react instantly when terrain gets tight. Whether you're skiing zipper-line bumps, weaving through trees, or navigating chopped-up snow, the Blaze 94 feels incredibly intuitive.
Unlike the Mantra family, the Blaze isn't trying to overpower the mountain. It's trying to dance with it.
That doesn't mean it's nervous or unstable. A few seasons ago, stability was one of the biggest criticisms of the Blaze 94. Volkl addressed that by increasing the Titanal Binding Platform and refining the construction, and the difference is significant. The ski now feels noticeably calmer when conditions become rough without sacrificing the lightweight personality that made it popular in the first place.
Compared to the M7 Mantra, the Blaze 94 is lighter, quicker, easier to pivot, and significantly better in technical terrain. The M7 still wins when speeds get very high or conditions become truly brutal, but for many skiers, the Blaze is simply more fun more often.
Construction is purpose-built around versatility. A Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore combines lightweight materials with enough substance underfoot to maintain stability, while 3D Glass improves responsiveness and edge hold. Volkl's Suspension Tips and Tails help smooth out impacts and reduce deflection in variable snow. The result is a ski that feels remarkably composed for how little it weighs.
And speaking of weight, the Blaze remains light enough to pull double duty as a touring ski. Volkl even includes skin attachment compatibility, making it a legitimate option for skiers looking to mix resort skiing with backcountry adventures.
The Blaze 94 isn't the best carver in Volkl's lineup. It isn't the most stable ski at 60 mph. That's not the point. The magic of the Blaze is how effortlessly it adapts to changing terrain and conditions while keeping a smile on your face all day long.
