Our Story

We founded The Ski Monster to fill the massive gap between the ski shop experience and online retail. Back in 2007, no one was giving honest, experience-based advice online — just marketing copy and specs. We set out to change that.

Starting in a college apartment, our mission was simple: create a website that actually gave skiers and snowboarders meaningful information to help them make better buying decisions. We figured that if we could help people make smarter choices, we’d end up with the most satisfied customers.

To have the most satisfied customers, you need the best staff. And in ski retail, that means getting them on the hill — a lot. That’s why we buy our staff Epic and Ikon passes and get them anywhere and everywhere we can to test next year’s gear. Every single review on our site is written by our team — not copied and pasted from a brand’s catalog. Real reviews. Real experience.

In 2014, we expanded our vision with an 11,000-square-foot store in Downtown Boston. Our focus has always been the same: getting people in gear that matches them — their ability, priorities, and goals on snow.

As word spread, the shop blew up. We had to rethink how to handle the constant flow of customers while keeping every experience personal. In 2020, we moved to an appointment-only model to ensure every skier and rider gets the same undivided attention and expertise that made us who we are.

At The Ski Monster, we understand the vital role our customers play — without you, we wouldn’t be here. We want you to be thrilled with every purchase, and our team is always available to help via phone, email, live chat, or social media. We’ve personally tested every ski, snowboard, boot, and binding we carry, so when we recommend something, it’s because we know it works.

Whether it’s your first day on snow or your fiftieth season, we’re here to help you fall in love with skiing and riding all over again. That’s what The Ski Monster is all about.

Cheers,
– The Ski Monster Crew
