A generous mid-volume fit with enough performance for progressing intermediates or advanced skiers.
The new K2 Recon 120 BOA is a step forward in ski boot technology. Let's cover the bases before we get into the BOA tech on this boot. This is a 120 flex ski boot that is more than powerful enough to drive any ski pretty efficiently without being so stiff that they're unforgiving or uncomfortable to ski in all day if performance isn't at the top of your priority list. For intermediate skiers looking to progress out of rentals or experts who don't need the stiffest boots... this is a solid option. The major change here is obvious, gone are the traditional buckles on the lower part of the shell, and now we have a BOA closure. Different from a traditional 4 Buckle boot, the BOA closure allows for a fine-tuned fit and feel on the sides and top of your foot. It offers a more even wrap, and even pressure is the name of the game in a ski boot.
This is a 100mm lasted boot that fits a lot of different volumes of feet but skiers with average feet will fit best. The heel is snug enough but on the more plush side for a mid-volume boot, great for skiers that don't like a tight fit on the Achilles or ankle bones. Pressure on top of the foot is firm and evenly dispersed, but not heavy enough to cause discomfort. Width is generous for a mid-volume fit. Skiers with wider feet will be able to get this boot to fit with some shell work. The toe box is generous in width and length.
The K2 Recon 120 BOA is a great option for skiers who have average to slightly wider feet. The 120 flex allows you to ski efficiently but isn't so stiff that the boot is unforgiving.
