Jones Howler Snowboard 2027 // Women's

The Jones Howler is one of those snowboards that always has another gear. It will make dicey conditions feel totally manageable and give you the green light on good conditions to open it up.

The first thing you'll notice is the edge hold.

The full camber profile creates a level of grip that's immediately apparent the moment you tip the board onto edge. On firm snow, icy mornings, or those classic New England days when conditions are less than ideal, the Howler feels remarkably planted. It doesn't just hold an edge—it encourages you to trust it.

That's what separates it from the Women's Flagship.

The Flagship smooths things out and lets the shape do some of the work. The Howler asks a little more from the rider, but rewards that effort with quicker response, stronger edge hold, and a noticeably more locked-in feel through the entire turn. If carving is your favorite part of snowboarding, you'll appreciate that difference almost immediately.

Despite all that grip, the Howler never feels one-dimensional. The directional shape still floats well on powder days, and there's enough taper to keep the nose riding naturally above softer snow. Jones also sneaks in a nice touch up front, replacing part of the wood core in the nose with Koroyd to reduce swing weight without introducing unwanted chatter. It simply leans more toward precision than surfiness.

What surprised us most is how much energy the board has. Every carve seems to load the tail, every transition feels quick, and the board has a knack for carrying speed through terrain that would slow down softer, less powerful snowboards.

Part of that snap from the tail is thanks to the freestyle DNA the Howler has built in. This is a board for riders who actively seek out interesting terrain instead of riding around it. Steep entries, technical tree lines, wind-buffed faces, icy traverses—the Howler has a way of making difficult conditions feel like part of the fun instead of something to avoid.

If you're deciding between the Women's Flagship and the Women's Howler, we'd keep it simple. The Flagship is the smoother ride best suited for long drawn out turns on wide open terrain. The Howler is the sharper tool. Both are exceptional, but if you love a board that bites hard, drives through every turn, and rewards your best riding, the Howler is an easy favorite.
