Elan Ripstick 96 Black Edition Skis 2024

Top of the podium, world champ, the one to beat. It's on most of our testers' top-tested list for a reason. It's powerful, it's got great grip, it can carve, it's quick, it is a blast in the trees and it can be pushed hard but isn't hard to push. There isn't a bad day to be on a Ripstick 96 Black.

When people tell you that unicorns don't exist... show them the Elan Ripstick 96 Black edition.

BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK.

The Elan Ripstick 96 Black Edition is a tough ski to beat in the all-mountain category, if not impossible to beat. Is this one of the best skis ever made? Probably... Anything you might want out of a ski, the Ripstick Black does without ever skipping a beat. While this is a more performance oriented ski it doesn't have any of the shortcomings most performance oriented skis have. It's powerful without being demanding, nimble without ever feeling nervous, responsive without feeling twitchy, and stable without feeling dead. It carves one of the meanest turns out there without being limited to just carving turns, it's a beast in trees and technical terrain as well. People will try and tell you unicorns don't exist, the Ripstick 96 Black is here to prove the doubters wrong. For a ski that is this light, the power you can generate is unrivaled and the speed limit is nearly impossible to find. If you're a less experienced skier, don't let all the talk of high performance scare you away. This is an intuitive ski that's easy to balance on, it initiates turns easily and won't feel demanding or punishing as you continue to progress into a stronger skier. If you're an expert skier, there's no need to worry that the Ripstick 96 Black "won't be enough ski," it's got all the top-end performance you want, it's just accessible in the low end of the power band. Great skis are not the result of chance. This is a great ski.

Who is this ski for? We haven't met a skier who doesn't like the Ripstick 96 Black.

Who isn't this ski for? Skiers who don't want a great ski.

What's the difference between Ripstick 96 and 96 Black? Ripstick 96 has two rods of carbon, while the Ripstick 96 Black has 4. Ripstick 96 is easier to balance on and is more maneuverable, Ripstick 96 Black is more powerful, precise, and stable.

The Test Crew

We test products year round in order to curate the best gear for you.

It's our top-tested ski for a reason. It can carve like a more narrow ski, has power like a much burlier ski and cuts through trees effortlessly. High-performance skis don't need to be difficult to ski, regardless of ability level.
