Elan Ripstick 106 Black Edition Skis 2020

Elan Ripstick 106 Black Edition Skis 2020

Elan Ripstick 106 Black Edition Skis 2020

IS THAT CARBON FIBER?

r: 18.1 meters @ 181 centimeters // weight: 1760 grams @ 181 centimeters // Rocker-Camber-Rocker

140 - 106 - 122

Don't be scared when you read that 106mm waist width number, the Ripstick 106 feels a lot more nimble and grippy than your typical ski around that width. Our intial thought when getting this ski in our hands was how lightweight it is. That characteristic translates to the snow well and feels quick and agile. The carbon bits added to this Black Edition model add power and stability when you want it without taking over the playful feel you want from a Ripstick coined ski. With the width to handle almost any condition and a touch of extra oomph in the Black Edition, this ski is a hell of a time without feeling like too much ski.  The Ripstick 106 Black, skis well at 5mph and 65 mph, most skis can't do both -- honestly I can't name a ski besides an Elan that can.

What makes this ski $150 more than the standard Ripstick 106?

Carbon is the name of the game here...the wood core inside the ski is wrapped edge to edge in an extra layer of carbon, carbon tubes run the length of the ski, and a new carbon topsheet covers the ski in a sleek looking black coat. What does all of this mean? All of this carbon combines to increase the overall strength and power of the ski without adding extra weight. In simple terms, this ski will feel a lot more lively and powerful in the same proven shape of the original 106.
