The Atomic Bent 85 is the entry point into the legendary Bent family, and for a lot of skiers, it's exactly where they should start.

While the wider Bent models are designed for advanced freeride and freestyle skiers, the Bent 85 focuses on accessibility. It's built for skiers who want to explore the entire mountain, learn new skills, ski switch, hit the occasional park feature, and have fun without being overpowered by their equipment.

To keep the price approachable, Atomic uses a simpler construction than the rest of the Bent lineup. The Densolite Woodcore combines wood and synthetic materials (foam) to create a lightweight, durable ski with a forgiving flex pattern that's easy to manage. It doesn't have the premium materials found in the Bent 90, 100, or 110, but that's intentional. The goal here isn't maximum performance—it's maximum fun and progression.

Atomic also leaves out the HRZN Tech found in many of the wider Bent models. At 85 mm underfoot, that's not really a drawback. This ski isn't designed around flotation or deep snow performance, and the more traditional tip shape actually helps it feel quicker edge-to-edge and more responsive on firm snow.

The Bent 85 has a playful personality that encourages experimentation. It feels comfortable making short turns on groomers, navigating bumps, exploring trees, and taking those first laps through the terrain park. The twin-tip shape makes skiing switch approachable, while the forgiving flex allows skiers to build confidence without feeling punished for mistakes.

What I like most about the Bent 85 is that it doesn't feel like a "beginner to intermediate level ski." It feels like a real Bent. The ski shares the same fun-loving DNA as the rest of the collection, just packaged in a way that's more approachable and affordable.

For younger skiers, lighter-weight adults, or progressing intermediates looking to branch out beyond groomers, the Bent 85 is one of the better options available.
