Armada Shift² 16 MN Alpine Touring Ski Bindings 2027
Let's get one thing out of the way first.
The Armada Shift2 16 MN is mechanically identical to the Salomon and Atomic Shift2 16 MN. Same engineering, same materials, same performance—the only difference is the graphics. Buy whichever one matches your skis best.
A Better Shift, Not a Different Shift
The original Shift completely changed the hybrid binding market. It gave skiers a legitimate alpine binding on the descent and a true pin binding on the climb. Before that, you were almost always sacrificing one for the other.
The Shift2 16 doesn't change the formula—it improves it.
The biggest headline is the DIN range increasing from 13 to 16, but that's only part of the story. Armada also gets the updated 3-Part Power Heel, derived from the Strive 16 and STH2 alpine bindings, along with a stiffer toe interface and more metal throughout the binding for improved power transfer, durability, and retention.
If you liked what the Shift already did, this version simply does it better.
Touring Performance
The touring experience remains exactly what Shift users have come to expect.
Flip the toe into walk mode and you're using traditional tech pins for an efficient climb. Transition back to ski mode and you're standing on a real alpine toe and heel instead of skiing on pins.
It's still heavier than a dedicated lightweight touring binding, but that's the tradeoff. You're carrying a little extra weight uphill so you can absolutely forget about your binding on the way down.
For plenty of skiers, that's a trade worth making every single day.
Downhill Performance
This is where the Shift continues to separate itself.
Click into ski mode and it simply feels like an alpine binding.
Power transfer is direct. Retention is excellent. Elastic travel inspires confidence when charging chopped-up snow, landing airs, or skiing aggressively through variable conditions.
Honestly, there's almost nothing to say—and that's exactly what you want from a binding.
You don't think about it.
You just ski.
The reinforced heel and stiffer chassis make the Shift2 16 feel even more composed than previous versions, particularly for bigger or more aggressive skiers.
