Volkl Secret Skis 2019 // Women's

STRONG ENOUGH FOR A MAN, BUT MADE FOR A WOMAN - SECRET DEODORANT

r: 16 meters @ 163 centimeters // weight: 2050 grams @ 170 centimeters // Rocker-Camber-Rocker

130 - 92 - 113

Test Locations: Stowe VT, Sugarbush VT

The Secret shares the same technology as the Mantra M5, just measures in at 92 mm vs 96 mm in the waist.  The Secret is still built for women that love to carve, want the ability to shred off trail but gripping on hard snow is crucial.  It maintains an expert level feel that strong skiers will love and timid skiers might find to be too much ski.  Skiers that feel like the Santa Ana 93 are a little too washy in the tails, will like the grip the Secret has -- they just hang on once they're tipped up on edge.  The titanal frame keeps the swing weight down more than a full sheet of titanal, making the Secret more fun off trail especially for how much camber the ski has -- the rocker profile isn't as dramatic as the Black Pearl or Santa Ana series.  What we love about the Secret is how versatile it is while maintaining a strong front side ability, Volkl has made another Ice Coast favorite.

How does the Secret compare to the Kenja?

The Kenja doesn't perform as well at low speeds, which makes it feel more demanding or harder to turn at low speeds.  The Secret feels a bit zippier depsite being wider and doesn't sacrifice the stability when carving big turns at speed on harder snow.

Beech/Poplar Core

Titanal + Carbon Fiber tip and tail

TLDR: A Volkl under 100 mm that actually floats.  It says Volkl on it so you know it rips, what's their Secret?

Recommended Binding: The Volkl Secret skis do NOT include a binding -- the best skis come flat.

We recommend the Marker Griffon ID or Tyrolia Attack 13
