You don't need to be into Mountaineering to have a spot in your closet for The North Face Super Diez Hooded Down Jacket, you just need to have want for a less bulky down insulator. Mountaineering pieces are more tapered at the wrist and are a shorter cut.  If you're a skier that wants a high lofted insulator without all the unneeded bulk the Super Diez is the way to go, it fits underneath a shell really well too.  The hood isn't helmet compatible so that also means it'll feel less bulky between the shoulder blades when you have a ski shell on.  The Super Diez Hooded Down Jacket is the real deal.

Fit

Regular Fit - Runs true to size, if you are typically a large in North Face, you'll be a Large in the Super Diez.  

*Jackets designed for Mountaineering are less bulky so they don't get in the way while climbing. 

Style

Mid-Layer piece for skiing or outerlayer stand alone piece that will keep you toasty on those super chilly days.

Insulation

The highest quality goose down available ranging from 550 - 900 power fill down.  The North Face rates the Super Diez Jacket at 900 Fill Down.

Hand Warmer Pockets - These helpful pockets are also pack compatible, no need to take off your pack to keep your hands warm in your jacket.

Additional Awesomeness

The Super Diez has a scuba hood as most mountaineering insulators do, so it isn't helmet compatible.  While that might sound as though something that isn't awesome it's really nice if you are hiking or skinning when it's windy.  The insulated hood sits closer to the head making it harder for wind and snow to make contact with your skin.
