The Combo jacket, from the Spyder Freeski line, is just that, a combination of heavyweight insulation with lighter weight stretch panel zones. The chest and back area of the jacket are where you'll find most of the insulation which does a great job of keeping your core warm. In areas that sit on or below the waist and through the arms, you'll notice less insulation and more stretch. The Gore-Tex Infinium membrane keeps you dry all day and is still extremely breathable, what I like most about it is it has a ton of performance but doesn't feel crispy or crunchy like a lot of top notch membranes. No need to sacrifice here, The Combo is probably as close to the best of both worlds that you can get if you need a little insulation in your jacket without having to sacrifice waterproofing or wind-proofing.
