The fit is precise but not restricting like a plug boot can be, the answer to having performance doesn't have to be having a racing boot.  While a race boot does a great job of steering and bending the skis, they don't always feel great or need a lot of work. Until boots like the X Max 120w, women had to turn to race boots for peroformance.  Because the shells of the women's  XMax 120 are thinner, they crush the foot less, you don't have to be in pain to have performance.  The responsive shell design wraps the foot well and provides good snow feel and quick response when you demand it.  The XMax 120w is at the top of the food chain as far as ski boots go, regardless of gender design.
