Hybrid downhill/alpine touring ski boots like the Nordica Strider have completely taken over the market in the last few ski seasons and its easy to see why. If you’re getting into backcountry skiing you can have one set of boots for both backcountry and resort skiing that will do both really well. Until now though, the one downside of these crossover boots is that they were pretty strictly marketed to very aggressive, expert-level skiers who wanted a stiff flexing boot with a narrow last. The Strider 95 doesn’t compromise anything in terms of features or quality, it’s just a bit softer flexing than most boots in this category, which you’ll appreciate if you’re an intermediate skier or just don’t want something that’s going to ski like a race boot on the downhill. In terms of the fit, there’s going to be more room in the toe box than most comparable boots, calling the last 100mm is a little generous. It’s still nice and snug around the heel though, and if you’ve tried on a Nordica SpeedMachine it fits very similarly.
