Never Summer West Snowboard 2019

Flex: Mid-Flex // Shape: Directional // Profile: Camber-Rocker-Camber

Test Locations: Steamboat CO, Copper CO

After several on-snow tests, the level of excitement was thorugh the roof! It’s wild and it’s the Never Summer West. It's becoming one of the most popular boards in the lineup and continues to stampede the competition. Softer than the Chairman and stiffer than the Proto sets you up in the middle for all mountain perfection. This deck will get you back in touch with nature when shredding the trees, the steeps, or even the park. Ripsaw Profile loads heaps of camber underfoot for hard charging and the rocker offers effortless float and turn initiation. Tons of tech on the inside increases the pop and shredability backed with Never Summer’s 3 year warranty. You’ll probably never have to use it because these boards are bombproof, but it’s nice knowing you got it. The Never Summer West Snowboard is a versatile ripper that is simply awesome!

It’s called the West, but can this ride on the east coast too?

Absolutely! The West has ripsaw camber zones underneath either foot that will provide a ton of power and hold on rugged east coast trails. That being said, the West really wants to get into the steep and deep of it in the powder and the trees. Any New Englander will tell you that the terrain out here isn’t just granulated sugar, so if you’re an east coast rider who likes to get into the thick of it then the West is still a great call.

How does the West compare to the Never Summer Proto Type Two

The West is a bit stiffer the all-mountain freestyle Proto Type 2, and will hold up a little better at higher speeds. The Proto is a true twin and ride switch better, but the directional West will have more float.

TLDR: All mountain board that can deliver on the freeride side. Stable, grippy, and plenty of float makes this one of Never Summer's most versatile.
