Shell jackets are great when you’ve got a plethora of versatile mid-layers that you can use to layer to your hearts desire, but sometimes it gets cold (We live in New England and confirm) and if you don’t want to spend a ton of cash on more jackets, having a really warm insulated jacket makes a lot of sense. While down is great for keeping you warm, it doesn’t keep doing its job when exposed to water, making it a less-than-ideal choice for an outer layer. That’s where the “featherless” part of this jacket comes in. Thinsuate Insulation is a synthetic insulator that will mimic the properties of down but in any conditions; and uses no ducks or geese.
