A suprisingly strong and solid feeling binding for only 245 g (w/o brakes).  Clicking in, it has the Marker Thud that you'd expect, instilling confidence before an ascent or invevitable descent.  Skiers that will be taking themselves for a long walk may get a little frustrated with how the climbing aid works, but it's easy to get the hang of after a couple tries.  On the downhill side of things, the Alpinist 12 feels a bit more damp than other tech bindings, it feels less tinny.
