The only split board I would confidently put up against some of our top-tested regular boards.
The Jones Solution Splitboard has become the industry benchmark for split boards and is here to elevate any touring experience. This is much more well-rounded than most splits on the market. There's a massive popularity of super directional, rockered split boards because generally, the idea of backcountry snowboarding is to hunt for soft snow. Well as everyone who's ever paid attention to weather patterns knows, you're not always going to get that. Sometimes you hike up a mountain and the zone you're supposed to shred is frozen over, sometimes there's no natural snow to even look for so you hike up the resort and shred groomers, there's a long list of variables that could make you better off with a non-powder specific board on a touring adventure. That's where the Jones Solution comes into play. This is the most versatile split board.
The Solution is built for the rider who doesn't know what they're getting into all the time because it performs no matter what. Sitting on a camber platform with rocker at the tip and tail keeps the Solution stable at speed with effortless turn initiation. At lower speeds, it feels energetic and snappy, so it's going to feel lively through trees and tighter terrain. It's equipped with enough rocker in the nose to float through softer snow and plow over variable snowpack. The camber shape is also key when you find yourself on some firm snow and need that extra grip to stay in control. The Solution feels at home in almost every snow condition. A lot of splits feel sloppy in the seam and don't provide a solid connection when joined together. Jones has done an incredible job at making this split feel solid. Utilizing industry-leading Karakoram hardware, the Solution is equipped with Tip-Lock Clips and the lighter-weight Ultra Clips 2.0 makes sure your ride is dialed. Backcountry riders who find themselves in all types of snow and want a stiffer ride for challenging terrain will love what the Jones Solution has to offer.
Who is this board for? Seasoned backcountry riders who prioritize versatility in their uphill setup. Riders who are trying to get into alpine touring, this is a great place to start.
Who isn't this board for? If you're touring missions consist only of searching for the deepest conditions ever, first off must be nice, and a more powder-focused split board with a bigger nose might make more sense (check out the Weston Backwoods Split). This might sound condescending but anybody who doesn't plan on doing any alpine touring should not get a split board.
We test products year round in order to curate the best gear for you.
A split board that doesn't care about the conditions. It will snap when you want it to snap, pivot when you want it to pivot, float when you want it to float, and grip when you want it to grip.
