LIKE AN RTM 84 EXCEPT IT SKIS WELL.

Test Locations: Stratton VT, Sugarbush VT, Loon NH

We're pretty excited about the new Amphibio 84 XTi, the waist width number goes directly against some extremely popular skis and the new 4D technology is the real deal, no gimmicks.  Elan is the king of manipulating metal to make skis stronger and ski better without adding weight.  By having the metal convexed in the shovel the skis enter and grip during the turn like nothing you've felt before.  By having the metal in the tails concaved the release out of a turn more smoothly and ski in off trail conditions much better than other skis that are mostly cambered.  The amphibio technology is still present in the 84 XTi making it an even more awesome performer on the frontside.

Bottom Line: The Amphibio 84 is best in class.

Construction

SST Sidewall - Sandwich sidewall with a layer of ABS placed directly over the edges. This construction gives the Amphibio excellent edge control and a super solid feeling underfoot.

Core

Force Woodcore - A full wood core is wrapped in fiberglass to boost torsional rigidity and power!

X Ti - A lightweight layer of titanal gives the skis excellent edge grip and stability. Additionally, carbon fibers are strategically placed to provide you with a super smooth feeling ride.

Elan 4D Technology

Amphibio 4D Profile - Rocker and Camber are combined in a unique way that makes skiing easier and more fun. The tips of the skis have a blend of both rocker and camber. The rockered portion allows for easy turn initiation, while the cambered side gives you incredible edge grip throughout the turn. It is truly the best of both worlds.

Tip Rocker Camber underfoot

Additional Awesomeness

4D - Makes the skis more stiff torsionally without adding all the weight that other manufacturers require for equal strength and dampening.  The metal is curved in the tip and tail (edge to edge); convexed in the shovel for edge hold and bite while it's concaved in the tail in order to let loose when exiting a turn.  By being concaved it the tail it's also better in the trees and bumps.

Power Spine Technology - Elan places an interior spine the entire running length of the ski and reinforces it with carbon, this guarantees a giant boost in stability!

Binding

The Elan Amphibio 84 XTi Skis do not include a binding.
