The Burton Highshot X Pro Step On is Burton's most advanced Step On boot to date, and after spending time in it, the biggest takeaway isn't just the fact that it has three BOA dials.
It's the fit.
This is one of the most adjustable snowboard boots we've worn. The Triple BOA PerformFit Wrap system lets you independently adjust the lower shell, upper cuff, and ankle wrap, making it much easier to fine-tune pressure exactly where you want it instead of simply tightening the entire boot.
That level of adjustment pays off on snow.
The heel hold is outstanding without relying on uncomfortable pressure points, and the boot does an excellent job wrapping the ankle securely while still allowing the forefoot enough room to relax. That's a difficult balance to achieve. Too many high-performance boots squeeze the entire foot equally resulting in great heel hold but cupping under the foot up front if your foot is proportional to wider. The Highshot X Pro feels much more anatomical, locking your heel in place while allowing your toes to stay comfortable throughout the day.
The flex matches that personality. This is a responsive boot built for riders who enjoy carving hard, riding aggressively, and getting immediate feedback from their equipment. It never feels unnecessarily punishing, but it definitely rewards riders who like a supportive boot beneath them.
The premium liner and Vibram outsole only reinforce that experience. The Asym Life Liner has a lot to do with what separates this boot from the rest. Insane moldability, long lasting, and pairs perfectly with the shell and BOA system to wrap things up perfectly.
Everything about the Highshot X Pro feels purpose-built, from the way it wraps your foot to the confidence it inspires hiking a ridgeline or trudging through the parking lot.
