A surprising amount of downhill performance for a boot with a walk mode. Stiff, responsive, powerful.

SWISS ARMY BOOT.

If you've got average feet, are an above average skier, and want a boot that can take you from steeps in the resort to tours in the backcountry, the Hawx Prime XTD 130 is a solid choice. The Atomic Hawx Prime XTD 130 is a powerful boot on the downhill side of things with an incredibly fluid walk mode if you wanted to get some touring laps in during the ski season. Aggressive skiers will appreciate the stiff and responsive flex the Prime XTD has when you're out there pushing the limits. The Prime XTD 130 has been around for a few seasons now and is still one of the better skiing 'hybrid' alpine touring boots for 2024. At a 130 flex, it's capable of driving just about any ski with ease and the lighter-weight construction (compared to a traditional downhill boot) will keep ascents from being overly taxing. Having tested these boots on a variety of skis from playful lighter weight skis to burlier, hard-charging, metal laminate front-side skis, we were super impressed all around. There aren't many boots out there that do so much so well. If you have an average foot, fit in a 100 mm lasted ski boot and want one boot the Prime XTD 130 is worth more than just a look.

Bootfitter's notes:

The Prime XTD 130 is true to length and width. The toe box is a bit more pointed than some other 100mm lasted ski boots, so you may feel a bit more pressure on the inside of your big toe and/or outside of the pinky toe but this is usually addressed once the liner and shell are molded to your feet. The instep is generous for a 100mm lasted ski boot. The ankle area is snug and offers really solid heel retention. The Atomic Hawx Prime XTD offers more of a wrapping feel around the heel and ankle compared to some other options in the category that are more isolated around the Achilles and back of the heel Small pressure points will come out if the shell is molded to your feet. If you're looking for a slightly less aggressive fit/feel, and don't need as much stiffness, go Prime XTD 120.
