Jones Flagship Snowboard 2027
The Jones Flagship is the OG in the Jones lineup. This is the board that largely helped define the freeride category and what riding down certain terrain could look like.
There are some key features about the Flagship that let it walk a line beautifully of being strong but nimble, fast but technical, and planted but floaty.
The Flagship likes to carry speed, rewards big committed turns, and remains remarkably stable when conditions start getting rough. Whether you're blasting through chopped-up snow, or opening things up on a wide face, the board always feels calm and predictable beneath your feet.
At the same time, it feels right at home making short choppy turns down steeper terrain or a zillion quick slashes through the softer snow along the side of a trail. Jump in some tight trees and for such a solid board its surprisingly agile bobbing through some otherwise high effort glades.
The shape and profile are a big part of what's working for you with the Flagship. The early rise rocker through the nose and 3D Contoured base help the nose naturally roll into and out of turns while keeping the board incredibly maneuverable for something this composed. It feels just as comfortable picking apart technical tree lines as it does making big, drawn-out turns in open terrain.
When the snow gets deep, the taper and rockered nose really come alive. The board naturally wants to stay on top of the snow, allowing you to focus less on keeping the nose afloat and more on choosing your line.
On firmer snow, there's still plenty of camber underfoot to confidently lay the board over and trust the edge. Compared to the Jones Howler, though, the Flagship favors smoother turn initiation and better float over maximum effective edge and outright grip. If your season is filled with icy mornings and hardpack, the Howler gets the edge, pun intended. If your riding takes you into more open or deeper snow, the Flagship is the ticket.
What continues to impress us most is how accessible the Flagship feels despite its reputation. Yes, it's built for riders who like to ride with speed and confidence, but it never feels cumbersome or punishing. Instead, it simply rewards good technique with a ride that's smooth, composed, and incredibly confidence inspiring. If your riding style is a match but you just want the most tuned up version possible, check the Flagship Pro, its basically the Flagship but track ready.
The Flagship has been one of the benchmark freeride snowboards for years because it gets the fundamentals right. It floats effortlessly, inspires confidence when the terrain gets technical, and somehow manages to make difficult conditions feel just a little more manageable. That's exactly what a great freeride board should do.
