As Weston's motto goes, go forth and slay pow.
The Weston Backwoods is a pow surfer's dream and definitely prefers trees and steeps. That being said, you'll be surprised at how well this thing holds up on a groomer. It's a directional board with an aggressive rocker in the nose and a short tail, this allows for soft snow float and rapid turn initiation. On groomers, rocker in the nose makes it easy to get the board on edge while a camber profile keeps the board planted. Mid-stiff flex provides enough stability without making the board too damp when you get it off-trail. That's clutch when you're in tighter, more technical terrain because the board feels energetic and snappy. In soft snow, no matter what terrain you're in, the board floats incredibly well. You can tell the Backwoods was designed to slay pow, but if you're just at the mountain ripping some quick groomer laps, it's more than capable.
Who's this board for? Riders looking for a board whose comfort zone is off-piste. Riders who want a capable all-mountain board with a unique shape.
Who isn't this board for? Beginners and park riders (unless you're a park rider who prefers a weird shape).
We test products year round in order to curate the best gear for you.
A pow board that won't leave you with that "WTF" feeling if mother nature isn't delivering the goods.
