Salomon QST 98 Skis 2025

The QST 98 is built for soft snow and technical terrain. It pivots on a dime and is easy to balance on. It isn't the best performing ski on groomers or at really high speeds but it's a tough ski to beat in tight trees, soft snow, and on the side of the trail. If you have a more playful style and generally hunt for good snow you'll love the QST. We can't get enough of those bright bases and awesome top sheets as well.

Basically a powder ski that's less than 100mm wide and there's nothing wrong with that.

NIMBLE AF.

The Salomon QST 98's are a nimble, agile, somewhat playful ski that will make tree runs and soft snow an absolute blast. The QST 98 is quick edge to edge and they're incredibly maneuverable even through the tightest terrain keeping you zipping through tree stashes or the side of the trail effortlessly. Compared to some other skis in the "all mountain" category that are around 100mm wide, the QST isn't as stable on hardpack and they don't arc mean turns on a groomer, however, the QST 98 can more than hold its own. One of our days on the QST was in Vermont and conditions were not ideal for a ski like this, but we still had a blast ripping these around on a groomer. If you're a skier that generally hunts for soft snow and fresh stashes of trees this is one of the best tools for that. On a groomer, the QST will be composed enough to keep you confident but you can tell the ski isn't built to pipe turns. This is a ski you get if you have a more playful style and prefer a highly maneuverable ski that makes technical terrain easier to ski.

Who is this ski for? Skiers who spend a ton of time where the snow is nicer; in the trees, or in the bumps, or out West.

Who isn't this ski for? Skiers looking for a really powerful ski. Skiers who love to spend most of there time on groomers.

The Test Crew

We test products year round in order to curate the best gear for you.

A quick, nimble, agile ski. The QST is easy to ski and loves to be where the snow is softer and more forgiving. On a groomer, they're just stable enough to keep you confident but you can tell these skis probably belong off trail or in some fresh snow. It's also light enough to be used as a 50/50 touring ski that can hang in the resort.
