A Jester that can tour too... Sweet

If you like to ski big lines and need a touring binding that can keep up, the Duke PT 16 might just be the solution for you. It sure is nice to get the 6-16 DIN performance of a Jester on the downhill. The rock solid IP3 heel that we have come to know and love with Jester and Griffon is in the Duke and it skis great. We like that heel housing and the sole holders in the toe are made of light and durable magnesium to keep these puppies in great shape as the seasons fly by. The Ride & Hike toe is pretty dang sweet too. For the skiing part, the toe works just like your typical alpine toe piece. When you are ready to hike up hill, the upper part of the toe unlocks and flips forward exposing the simple and effective pin toe. You can leave the upper jaw part locked on the ski, or you can take it off, toss it in your backpack and remove about 300 grams from your feet. The brake locks out nice and easy and you get a neutral setting as well as a roughly ten degree climbing aid for the steeper stuff. The toe height is adjustable so these can work with alpine, touring, and GripWalk boots too.

The Test Crew

We test products year round in order to curate the best gear for you.

It's burly, it skis like a traditional binding and it can tour. The Duke PT 16 isn't the lightest alpine touring binding on the market but it is the best as far as downhill performance. If you want a binding that can handle everything you throw at it, get a Duke PT 16.
