If you’re reading this chances are you have a pretty good idea of what you’re looking at. Perhaps the most talked about snowboard in the past few seasons, the Orca has gotten tons of attention. If I’m being honest, I was pretty skeptical of the hype surrounding this board. Here’s my take: it’s a lot of fun, and is really good at some things...but not everything. Trees, pow, spring slush, a soft groomer even...it’s awesome. Icy hardpack...it’s a little less awesome. Where the Orca surprised me was on a pretty typical groomer, soft enough but still an East Coast groomer. It did a great job of sinking an edge in and making shorter radius turns. It gripped well and felt confident but still had a playful side and was ready to make a slash if you wanted.
