The Hawx Ultra XTD 95 BOA is a low-volume alpine touring boot that is capable of cruising the resort or crushing the backcountry. It has a forgiving enough flex pattern for less experienced skiers or more advanced skiers that don't want a stiff boot. The walk function is smooth and natural for touring days and the BOA system helps to level up the fit in the mid and forefoot. This is a winner all around.

An alpine touring boot that is happy cruising the resort or tackling technical terrain in the backcountry.
The Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 95 BOA is one of our favorite alpine touring options for this season. It shares nearly all of the fit characteristics of the regular Hawx Ultra 95, it just has a walk mode and tech toes allowing it to be used outside of the resort. The Ultra XTD 95 BOA is a low volume boot, great for skiers with more narrow feet or those who want a more locked in feel. The 95 flex is more than enough boot for intermediate skiers who don't need the stiffest flex out there while also being forgiving enough for less experienced skiers who are making the jump from rental boots or entry-level ski boots. The Ultra XTD 95 drives most recreational skis predictably and has a nice level of responsiveness. If you are a more touring-oriented skier, this boot paired with a lighter-weight touring ski will allow you to pivot and drive those skis incredibly easily, even on steeper or more technical terrain. The walk mode is smooth and easy to use which will allow for a more natural feel on ascents during touring days. The BOA system on the boot also helps to take the fit to a new level by helping to wrap the mid and forefoot evenly without cranking the boot on top of the foot.
The Hawx Ultra XTD 95 is a low-volume fit that is precise where it counts for skiers with narrow feet but it isn't suffocating. The length feels true to size and is softer on the end of the toes thanks to a liner update. The sides of the feet will be true for a 98mm last. The instep is snug but not aggressive. The ability to heat mold the shell and the liner during the fitting process makes this boot fit like a glove with minimal work. The BOA dial is easy to use and wraps the foot well without crushing the top of your foot. The cuff is forgiving enough to accommodate more athletic calves if needed. This is a lower flexing boot so it doesn't offer the most aggressive or locked-in fit, but it's more than enough for intermediate skiers. If you want a more dense liner and a more powerful boot, check out the Hawx Ultra XTD 115.
