Having ski boots that are able to maintain command of your skis when the terrain gets rugged or variable isn’t something all alpine touring boots can do, the Hawx Ultra XTD 120 can.  A boot that can do it all has new meaning; it’s not just about being able to ski hardpack or shred bumps it’s about being able to ascend too – in order to do that you need range of motion, a grippy sole and light weight construction. The Ultra XTD 120 is a more precise fit than other boots of equal performance in the same Alpine Touring, downhill capable, category like the Cochise 120 for instance – by precise we mean narrower and lower volume.  Little to no sacrifice in responsiveness will please all resort skiers, while it’s lack of weight and smooth hike function will please uphill travelers.  

How's the fit? Precise in all the right places. The 98mm last shouldn't scare you, this boot is forgiving enough in the forefoot to keep your feet happy. The toe box is slightly more pointed so you may notice some extra pressure on the sides of your pinky and big toe. Heel pocket is precise and snug. Most pressure points will come out of the shell if it is molded to your feet. Instep room is generous for a low volume boot.
