Salomon Shift Alpha BOA 130 Alpine Touring Ski Boots 2026

$949.95

The Salomon Shift Alpha 130 BOA has all the performance for skiing aggressively and getting energy to your skis while also having all the features you need for some touring adventures. It fits like a true low-volume boot (great for narrow feet and skiers who like a precise fit), but it isn't overbearing by any stretch of the imagination. Compared to the Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 130, the Shift Alpha isn't quite as powerful or precise but it is a close second place. If you need a solid downhill boot that can get you uphill efficiently and comfortably this should be on your radar.

PURPLE DISCO MACHINE.

We've been waiting for quite some time for Salomon to drop a Low-Volume alpine touring boot- the Shift Alpha BOA 130 didn't disappoint. The Shift Alpha shares a ton of fit performance and characteristics with the regular S/Pro Alpha 130, which has been around for a few seasons. This boot gets you downhill as efficiently as a regular ski boot but it has the functions and features to get you uphill like a true touring boot. Compared to a downhill boot, with no walk mode, the Shift Alpha 130 isn't quite as stable or powerful but has more than enough performance to be skied aggressively and doesn't feel like you're sacrificing too much on the way down. On the way up, the Shift Alpha has a smooth walk function that allows for a natural gait when clicked into a touring binding. The closest comparison to this boot is the Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 130. The major difference lies in the liners of these two boots, the Shift is a bit more plush and doesn't have as much resistance when flexing into the boot. The Ultra XTD 130 is more powerful and precise but if you're a skier that likes a more forgiving flex pattern and fit the Shift Alpha BOA might be the boot for you.

Bootfitter's Notes

The Shift Alpha BOA 130 shares most of the fit characteristics with the Salomon S/Pro Alpha. If that boot fits you, this one will too. The liner and shell are heat moldable to allow for easy customization out of the box. The heel is more firm in the lower portion of the foot compared to some other boots on the market, but this will feel more appropriate once the boot is molded. The length is true to size, while the instep region of this boot is on the more generous side of the spectrum for a lower-volume ski boot. The cuff of the Shift Alpha is on the more precise side, so if you have larger calves there might be better options out there for you.
