Salomon QST 106 Skis 2026

Salomon absolutely nailed the redesign of the QST series, delivering an impressive new lineup of skis from top to bottom. Historically, the wider QSTs have been our favorites, but that’s now up for debate thanks to how well Salomon improved the 94mm and 100mm models. That doesn’t mean we’ve stopped loving the QST 106; it just didn’t need as much work. The most notable updates come from subtle core tweaks that add strength throughout the ski. The result is a version that keeps everything we loved about the old 106, but now feels more capable. It’s more confident, less “noodly,” and ready to be pushed harder.

The updated QST 106 retains the same shape and generous rocker profile, and with just a 20-gram weight increase, it hasn’t lost the playful energy we loved in the previous version. What sets it apart now is a reinforced core, which gives the ski a noticeably more powerful feel by improving snow contact and reducing chatter. It’s a welcome improvement for aggressive skiers, but also makes the ski feel less one-dimensional. It’s more composed at speed, bites into firm snow more easily, and is less dependent on soft conditions than before. Previously, the QST 106 excelled in soft snow but lacked the backbone to inspire confidence elsewhere. Now, it retains its strengths while gaining the stability it was missing. In short, the new QST 106 is more well-rounded and is going to be tough to beat in its category.
