Volkl Mantra 84 W Skis 2027 // Women's

The Mantra 84 W is the newest addition to the women's Mantra family, and it fills a gap Volkl didn't even know it had.

It shares much of what makes the Mantra 88 W and M7 W so good—excellent edge grip, impressive stability, and that signature smooth Volkl feel—but packages it into a ski that's quicker, easier to balance on, and more accessible to a wider range of skiers.

Think of it as the most approachable Mantra.

That doesn't mean it's watered down. Far from it.

Expert skiers will still find plenty of horsepower here. The Mantra 84 W remains stable at speed, holds an edge exceptionally well, and rewards aggressive skiing with the same precision and confidence that defines the rest of the Mantra family. It simply requires less effort to access that performance.

On firm snow, the ski is outstanding. It feels calm, predictable, and composed, even when conditions get firm or challenging. The narrower platform allows for quicker transitions edge-to-edge than the Mantra 88 W, while still maintaining the damp, quiet feel that Volkl fans have come to expect.

Compared to the Mantra 88 W, the 84 W is easier to ski, more nimble, and a little more forgiving. Compared to the M7 W, it's noticeably quicker, more agile, and less demanding. While conventional wisdom says wider skis should perform better off trail, we actually found the 84 W to be the easier ski in bumps, tighter terrain, and technical situations simply because of how quick and maneuverable it feels underfoot.

That's what makes this ski so appealing.

The Mantra 84 W doesn't force you into one style of skiing. It loves groomers and carved turns, but it's equally happy navigating bumps, ducking into trees, or dealing with the random conditions that make up most ski days. For many skiers, that versatility is more valuable than a little extra width.

Construction is classic Volkl. A multilayer wood core combines beech and poplar, with denser beech placed along the edges and lighter poplar through the center. Combined with Volkl's Tailored Titanal Frame, the result is tremendous edge hold and stability without making the ski feel overly demanding. Tailored Carbon Tips reduce swing weight and help the ski engage quickly, contributing to the responsive feel that defines the 84 W.

If you love smooth, confidence-inspiring skis and spend most of your time on groomers but still want the versatility to ski the whole mountain, the Mantra 84 W deserves a serious look.
