Volkl Aura Skis 2018 // Women's

DISTINCT.

For the last several years the Volkl Aura has been consistently at the top of lists for Best Women's Freeride All-Mountain Skis.  Even though the Aura was completely redone for 2016 it remains at the top of those reviewers lists, including ours, with a full rocker construction, slightly wider waist and quicker turning radius.

Previous models of the Aura all had camber underfoot.  When the Aura first came out it was 100% camber, then the waist got slightly wider, neglible tip rocker was introduced for 2013 and then in 2016/2017 a fully rockered ski that can dominate all, the Aura remains unchanged construction wise for 2018.  Whenever Volkl adds rocker to something there are a fair amount of haters that pipe up, but the fully rockered shape matches up much better with it's strong construction.  Previous Aura's were honestly only good on the frontside, it was never that good in soft snow.

Skiing well in soft snow isn't just attributed to the size of the waist, though making it wider doesn't hurt at all, the full rocker is what really makes the floating happen.  By adding rocker to the tail the skis are less susceptible to diving when skiing in deep snow at speed, they plane much better.  Just like the Aura's twin brother the Mantra, the Aura still rips the frontside.

The new Volkl Aura won't grip quite as well as the old Aura if you're doing quick turns on boiler plate ice and the speed limit is a little lower but the performance in soft snow, crud and pow is well worth the trade off.  Better float and a more forgiving feel on the front side that's what the new Volkl Aura is all about.

Construction

Power Construction - Sidewall runs the length of the ski for maximum edge hold and stability.

Powered by Titanium - Incredible energy and snap. Titanium gives the Aura unrivaled power and stability.

Core

Sensorwood - A combination of vertically laminated poplar and beech woods. This core is extremely durable and helps to provide the skis with a consistent flex.

Shape

Freeski Tip & Tail Rocker -  Rocker in the tip and tail with camber underfoot. Effortless turn initiation, increased floatation and stability where you need it most.

Binding

The Volkl Aura does not come with a binding. We recommend you use a binding that will accommodate your skiing needs (backcountry, touring, all-mountain etc.).
