No metal makes the 90Eight an easier to handle option if you feel as though the Volkl Mantra is a little too much ski.  With Volkl's 3D Ridge technology that started in the V-Werks series you'll have a lighter swing weight which makes navigating through crud and trees much easier, without sacrificing front side stability.  In comparison to the Mantra, the 90Eight will float better but not have has high of speed limit on the front side -- the Mantra is really built for sending it on the front while the 90Eight is more all around.  We're a fan, and we're signed up.

TLDR: Much more playful than your 'typical Volkl', still solid feeling but doesn't feel like it's got the horsepower of the Mantra. 

Recommended Binding: The Volkl 90 Eight's do NOT include a binding -- the best skis come flat.
