Is the North Face Freedom Pant waterproof?

Yup, the North Face’s waterproof membrane is called HyVent and will repel moisture in about moderate rain and moderate to heavy snow.

I usually ski with a baselayer on under my ski pants, what size should I select to make sure I have enough room to layer underneath?

The Freedom Pants were designed with layering in mind and have an athletic fit. This means that they offer plenty of space for you to never feel constricted even with a layer underneath. There is some synthetic insulation in the pant, which will keep you pretty warm on its own, so you shouldn’t need too much more than a next-to-skin base layer.

You said this is a pant that doesn’t have too many bells & whistles. What are some of the things I might be missing out on that I can find in other ski pants?

Other pants may come with a higher level of waterproofing, or feature a more tailored fit. Some pants will have additional features like an adjustable powder skirt to attach to your jacket.
